Woodland Burials - introduction

Woodland Burials emphasise the concept of the deceased returning to nature in a way that is not only environmentally friendly, but provides something that is more personal and individual for those that are left behind.

Burials may be non-religious with families and friends able to choose their own way of saying good-bye to the deceased. Graves may be individually consecrated, in accordance with the religious beliefs of the deceased and their family.

A tree, selected from our list, can be planted by the groundsman close to the deceased and thereby provide a living memorial.

Parts of the wood are allocated to different types of plants. There are areas for Primrose, Snowdrops, Cyclamen, Wild Daffodils, Cowslips, Aconites, Autumn Crocus and Bluebells. The family may choose the area in which they would like the deceased to be placed and then purchase the appropriate bulbs from our list. These will then be planted and cared for by our groundsman.

Family plots are available, generally clustered around an existing tree.

There is a special area for pets to be buried in, although it is possible for them to be buried in their owners grave.
